In March of 2006 the Board of Directors of the Fort St John Co-op announced that after an extensive and exhausting review of food operations and continuing losses, the Fort St John Food Store will be closed and selling off of the inventory commenced.
President of the Board; Mitchel Chilcott stated that the Board of Directors had a difficult decision to make, but with falling support and rising losses, closing the Food Store was the prudent decision to make under the circumstances.
The Petroleum Department will not be affected and will see no changes in its operations.
